About Me

I'm a CS + Math student and writer focused on the intersection of Machine Learning and Social Impact

I'm currently pursuing dual degrees in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at Bradley University. While my foundation is in full-stack web development and building scalable software, my recent work has focused on using Data Science to solve complex environmental and social challenges. Whether I am optimizing a database, developing a user-facing web application, or training a machine learning model, I am driven by tech’s potential for positive impact. Through my involvement with organizations like Rewriting the Code and Kode With Klossy, I'm committed to empowering other women in tech and promoting computer science education.

When I'm not tuning hyperparameters or analyzing "censored" data, you can find me advocating for campus sustainability through pollinator gardens or mending garments with Sewsation (more on that below!). I also enjoy reading, crocheting, journaling, language learning, and spending time with family.

WiDS Datathon 2026: Wildfire Spread Prediction

Python, Scikit-Survival, XGBoost, Optuna, Pandas

Participated in my first global datathon through Break Through Tech, ranking in the Top 30% of program teams. I developed a hybrid model blending Random Survival Forests and Gradient Boosting to predict fire impact probabilities over a 72-hour horizon. I worked with my team to engineer physics-based features and implementing monotonicity constraints for physical consistency.

Entrepreneur Compass Tool - Cambio Labs

This project, developed as part of the Break Through Tech AI Program for Cambio Labs, focuses on transforming data into tailored resource recommendations for low-income social entrepreneurs. Our goal was to streamline Cambio Labs' workflow and increase the success rate of small business owners by automating and scaling resource matching.

HoodWatch - Neighborhood Safety App

The HoodWatch app was created to address the problem of common safety issues often going unreported. The project's solution was to create a safety app that allows users to report local issues in real time. As the Frontend Lead and Researcher for this project, I was responsible for designing and implementing the front-end using Expo SDK and React Native. I set up the project and navigation, implemented login and account verification screens, and ensured the app's accessibility.

Twitter Sentiment Analysis

Python, Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, NLTK, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Seaborn

This project analyzed tweet sentiment based on different tweet characteristics. My role involved optimizing Random Forest and Naive Bayes models to predict sentiment and reshare likelihood. I also created Word Clouds with NLTK and analyzed a second dataset. The Naive Bayes binary model achieved a 93.31% accuracy with oversampling and a 91.12% accuracy with undersampling.

Enhanced UX/functionality for legacy .NET products and developed REST APIs using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Basic.
Optimized database queries, reducing execution time by over 90%.

I develop and deliver curriculum for two five-week "Intro to Coding" courses using Scratch and Blockly, guiding over 45 students through final projects and introducing them to foundational coding principles.

Achieved a 90% engagement rate among 200+ scholars by customizing learning materials and coordinating daily announcements. I led coding practices in Python, SQL, and Looker Studio, resulting in a 100% project completion rate for the cohort.

2022

Accepted into the Kode With Klossy Web Dev Scholar program for a two-week intensive.
Won 1st place in the Congressional App Challenge using my new web development skills.

2023

Gained professional experience volunteering to reinstate a high school website, learning C#, SQL, and Azure DevOps.
Accepted into the Kode With Klossy program a second time as a Data Science scholar.
Joined the Society of Women Engineers and participated in social and professional events.

2024

Became a Kode With Klossy Instructor Assistant to give back to the community.
Joined Rewriting the Code, a community for women in tech, for summer networking and learning.
Accepted into Codepath's Technical Interview Prep course, a 10-week program focused on algorithms and data structures.

2025

Took Intro To Software Engineering as a sophomore and built HoodWatch with my team. Was my first time following an Agile process, as well as taking the lead for front end development. I gained valuable experience in creating user stories, mapping out functional requirements, and being a team player, all while delivering results.
Selected for the 12-month Break Through Tech AI program at Cornell Tech, engaging in hands-on projects with machine learning and data science.
Worked my first ever internship as a Web Development Intern at Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc., where I developed new features and enhanced UX for new & legacy products. I gained valuable experience navigating large codebases, developing my product understanding, and working in a corporate environment.
Completed my summer AI/Machine Learning coursework with Break Through Tech and worked with a team to train machine learning models for Cambio Labs' resource recommendation system
Starting my Senior Capstone Project, leading the Frontend while supporting feature development and assisting in client meetings.

2026

Competed in the WiDS Worldwide Datathon, achieving a Top 30% ranking among program teams (Break Through Tech) for wildfire spread prediction.
Deepened expertise in Survival Analysis and ensemble modeling, successfully blending traditional ML with time-to-event statistical methods.

Beyond the Code

My interests outside of technology are often rooted in a passion for community, sustainability, and continuous learning.

Sustainability & Community Activism

I am an active member of my campus community, currently working with a team to bring pollinator gardens to the university and establish a lasting educational program. We've presented our research at the school's research expo and the Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress 2025 to inspire students and educators to care about climate change. In Fall 2025, we planted our first pollinator plot on campus and won an award for Best Implementation of an Idea from the Turner School of Entrepreneurship.
Sewing & Sustainable Fashion

As a member of Sewsation, a campus initiative founded to cut down on clothing waste, I volunteer my time to mend clothes for faculty, students, and community members. I am passionate about using my skills to extend the life of garments and prevent them from ending up in a landfill. I currently also run Sewsation's Instagram presence.
